It is clear that Paul cares about the NY Technology community through his involvement and support of the NY Tech Alliance. The value of this involvement shows in PE Law's ever-growing working relationships with large legal, accounting and technology companies. Access to leveraging these relationships is invaluable in quickly achieving goals of early stage companies.
I gladly recommend PE Law to colleagues.

Paul Ellis and his team have been great to work with. Regardless of the complexity of matters, they have provided prompt, insightful and actionable guidance towards helping achieve business goals both with contracts and strategic decisions. Unlike other law firms working with early stage companies, personal attention was always provided by senior lawyers when it mattered while cost-effectively using attorneys with lower hourly rates whenever appropriate.

Whenever I have consulted with Paul Ellis, he has engaged me in a conversation where his expertise and experience with early-stage companies plays a major role. What is of equal significance for me in our exchanges is that Paul really listens. As a result, his contributions are thought-provoking as well as thoughtful.
Consulting with Paul inevitably takes me further in my resolve and leads to a successful outcome because he reflects with genuine consideration for the other person.

We've worked with Paul and his team ever since our startup first incorporated, and his services were invaluable in every stage of our company--from the initial organization through to fundraising, stock issuance and everything else. He understands the challenges facing young companies and brings the knowledge, the experience and, above all, the personal involvement that makes such a difference. You get the sense that he really cares about your success.

I was pleased to be able to work with the Paul Ellis Law Group attorneys in connection with the merger of a division of my company with another company in a similar line of business. This was not an easy deal as there was a lot of complexity in some of the provisions, it was heavily-negotiated and had significant time pressure. Throughout, the PELG team was absolutely on top of all of the issues and was super-responsive. Their expertise really showed through in identifying the unintended consequences of provisions that were initially proposed by the business people and then proposing alternative solutions in an effort to get the deal done. They were aggressive advocates when needed, but were able to dial it back to find a compromise when appropriate. I would certainly work with PELG again on a similar deal and I continue to rely on them for general corporate matters.

Paul Ellis and his team have been advising our healthcare IT start-up since we founded it in 2013. Paul and his team have worked with us on drafting corporate documents, setting up a corporate structure, filing patent applications, drafting contracts, memoranda of understanding and a privacy policy, and raising an initial round of funding.
Paul and the team of attorneys he works with (within his firm and outside his firm) are quite simply the best. Every person we have worked with at the Paul Ellis Law Group has been bright, creative, and experienced. They are chess players – they are able to look at the entire board and foresee potential issues and recommend actions to guard against them. They are careful, they think through each move and see how it might affect future moves. If Paul does not have an in-house expert to help, he works closely with attorneys he is affiliated with at other firms and coordinates with them. Paul’s oversight ensures that nothing falls through the cracks and that the overall strategy is executed seamlessly.
Although we are not a large client, Paul and his team make us a priority whenever we need them. They think through the problem, come up with possible solutions, carefully explain the pros and cons of each solution and help us work through them. Paul lays out a timeline for completion of the work and he sticks to it. If he is going to miss a promised deadline, he communicates that clearly and offers an updated deadline.
When we ask for an estimate of hours and costs Paul is incredibly responsive. He is sensitive to the financial hardships of start-ups and works to come up with billing solutions that allow the start-up and the Paul Ellis Law Group to continue to operate! Paul and his team offer big firm experience and credentials for significantly less money. Paul cares deeply about the success of the ventures that he represents and that shows in his willingness to go the extra mile and have an “off the clock” conversation when necessary.
I am a very discriminating buyer of legal services - prior to founding my start-up I worked as a litigator in a large NYC law firm. Paul and his team have created tremendous value for our company by making sure we protected our IP at a crucial time and making sure that our formation documents protected the integrity and continued viability of the Company in the event of co-founder turmoil (which came to pass). At the time, these measures seemed like overkill. Now we know better. My partner and I have sheepishly admitted to others that we love our lawyers – we do.

I consider myself a savvy business person, but selling my company was my first M&A transaction. Paul and his team were great. They explained the process, the options I had to consider and helped me through many complicated and complex decisions. If you're looking for an attorney to help prepare for a sale or navigate the sale process, Paul and his team are a great choice.
